The incarnation of Japanese Americans during World War II has impacted the community in a variety of ways—some that are obvious and some that are not. Whenever I go to a Japanese American event, I am still surprised by how many times “camp” comes up. As descendant of someone who spent a good portion of their childhood in one, it is never far from my mind. And in the current political and cultural climate we find ourselves in today, it seems to come up even more.
