Comedy InvAsian 2.0 announced this week its coming back for a second season of more laughs from Asian American and Pacific Islander comedians.
Originally debutting on Hulu in 2018, producers Koji Stevan Sakai (Little Nalu Pictures), Victor Elizalde (Viva Pictures) and Quentin Lee (Margin Films) will reteam for Season 2 with each comedian doing a 30 minute set per episode.
“Having co-created Comedy InvAsian, I’m looking forward to making some much needed laughter with a fresh round of AAPI comedians,” said Quentin Lee who co-created Comedy InvAsian along with directing and producing comedy specials such as Brash Girls Club, Brash Boys Club, Kim McVicar’s Please Notice Me and exec-producing Canadian comedian Ed Hill’s special Candy and Smiley.
The crew is now seeking talented comedians to submit clips of their past work and a short letter of interest to be on the program. You must prepare a 25-30 minutes of never published original material. It cannot be something already posted online or rehashed).
“With the news of a hate crime against Asians and Asian Americans seemingly every day now, it’s important that shows like Comedy InvAsian 2.0 exist. The more people can see people like me or my son on television, the more they’ll understand that we’re just like them — with the same fears, hopes, and aspirations,” said Koji Steven Sakai of Little Nalu Pictures.
