Hosts Koji Steven Sakai and M. Martin Mapoma invited writer/director Jen Celotta to talk about the best or worst day of her life. Jen has worked on amazing shows such as Office, Space Force, and Cobra Kai.
Do you think we asked her about her best or her worst day? Hint: It involves snakes, Japan, and unexploded mines.
Hosts Koji Steven Sakai, Quentin Lee, and Jennifer Field watched the 2018 sequel slasher film The Strangers: Prey at Night. This is probably the most recent midnight film so far in the podcast and by far one of Koji’s favorites.
Synopsis of the film: Mike and his wife Cindy take their son and daughter on a road trip that becomes their worst nightmare. The family members soon find themselves in a desperate fight for survival when they arrive at a secluded mobile home park that’s mysteriously deserted — until three masked psychopaths show up to satisfy their thirst for blood.
Have you ever wanted to write your own movie or wondered what it takes to write one? In this educational and FUN four hour-ish workshop, I’ll teach you the basics of movie screenplays, how to properly structure and format them, how to begin to write your own stories, and an honest insiders take on the movie business from a working screenwriter and producer with almost twenty years of experience.
You’ll walk away not only with the tools to begin to write movies, but you’ll leave with the beginnings of your own story. This is a great introduction for those interested in a possible career in film but also for those who love movies and want a one-of-kind experience.
I have written five feature films that have been produced. I also produced three feature films; a one-hour comedy special on Starz, Comedy InvAsian, a television series featuring the nation’s top Asian American comedians; and Brash Girls Club, a limited comedy series, which premiered on Tubi TV. The only thing I love more than writing is teaching it. I am currently a screenwriting instructor at UCLA Extensions, the New York Film Academy in Burbank, and most recently Chapman University.

To help me launch this class, I’m looking for 4 people to take the class and write a — hopefully good — review in a timely manner (within a few weeks). If you are interested, please hit me up at ksakai1(at)gmail.com and let me know why you want to take the class.
This week we were joined by comedian, writer, actor, and recently politician Kristina Wong. She came in to discuss the world of pick up artists and what she learned from that world.
Hosts Koji Steven Sakai and M. Martin Mapoma bring on activist Ann Burroughs to discuss her best or Wost day. Ann’s past is exceptional and we don’t want to give it away in the description, but it involves apartheid, Nelson Mandela, and prison! Enjoy one of our favorite episodes.
Comedian, writer, and podcaster Chris Jonesy Jones gives us his best life advice. One of our favorites is about how we are all running a program (our culture) and that we have to look beyond that. Lots of insightful stuff. You can follow Jonesy here: https://www.instagram.com/funnyjones/
You can find out more about Jonesy’s podcast Weird AF and subscribe here: http://weirdafnews.com.
Hosts Koji Steven Sakai and M. Martin Mapoma brought in Canadian broadcaster and radio host Andrew Willis to talk about his best or worst day/moment of his life. Guess which one we asked him? Hint: Can Andrew be himself on the radio? Or does he have to be someone else to be successful?
This week Koji Steven Sakai, Quentin Lee, and Jennifer Field watched the 2004 Thai classic horror film, Shutter . Quentin dropped horror film knowledge, Jennifer talked about the film itself, and Koji actually liked the film this time (surprise!)
We watched Shutter on Netflix and Vudu.
Here is a quick synopsis: After hitting a young woman with her car, Jane (Natthaweeranuch Thongmee) and her photographer boyfriend, Tun (Ananda Everingham), begin seeing a shadowy figure haunting the background of Tun’s photographs. Concerned that the figure is the vengeful spirit of the young woman from the accident, Jane does some research and soon discovers that the girl was named Natre (Achita Sikamana) and had been a classmate of Tun’s. As the haunting continues, Jane uncovers a shocking secret.
Host Koji Steven Sakai brought on friend, actor, and professor Dom Magwili to talk about acting and life. Lots of great advice even if you don’t want to be an actor!
Hosts Koji Steven Sakai and M. Martin Mapoma brought in Australian actor/filmmaker/go-getter Lark Lee to talk about the best or worst day of her life. Hers has something to do with an accident and her long journey with her insurance company.
